Serves: All NYS Counties – supports foster, kinship, & adoptive parents, support professionals, & those who wish to become foster parents

Hours:  Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

The AFFCNY Team educates and supports foster, kinship and adoptive parents, the professionals who serve them and those wishing to foster or become parents through information-sharing, services, peer support and referral.

The team improves services available to children and families, increases citizen involvement in local service planning and delivery, educates leaders and stakeholders about the realities, challenges and rewards of foster, kinship and adoptive parenting, and advocates for greater support of foster, kinship and adoptive families by federal, state and local agencies.

Services include:

General Services:

• Exploring Foster Care and Adoption
• Family Allegation Support Team
• Ombudsman – gov employee who investigates & tries to resolve complaints
• Family Court Education and Support
• Events, Trainings and Support Meetings

Post-adoption and post-guardianship services include:

• Tailored Assessment and Brief Counseling
• Referral to Services
• Case Management and In-Home Support
• Advocacy to Help Secure Services
• Parent Support Groups and Parent Mentors
• Information and Education as needed
